These are California tiger salamander larvae, a sensitive species here in California. I've been monitoring this population for about 10 years.

I'd been planning a shot like this for a week or so, Ozzy's request predicted todays photo. Tiger salamanders may not be as charismatic as mountain lions, but they're really interesting animals none the less.
